The Godfather a Academy Award 11 Nomination an 3 wins film proved to be an extraordinary. This being my first time watching it hearing hearing about it and actually seeing it puts it at a higher pedestal. Marlon Brando calmly as the Godfather portrayed a family man who did not want trouble coming to his family so he protected them any means possible. He really represented the true Godfather. His face, his voice , his walk and attitude. Supported by Al Pacino, James Caan , Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton , and Talia Shire. With 23 on screen deaths it was a film that took explicit to a new level.

Referring to The Godfather as a gangster film , the article touches base on the awards, the characters and the plot of the film and how it changed film in some form. saying that , "This gangster film re-invented the gangster genre, elevating the classic Hollywood gangster film to a higher level by portraying the gangster figure as a tragic hero."

The article relates to the film in class by emphasizing on the performance that was viewed. Placing light on the rich and enthralling film characterized by superb acting and deep character studies, beautiful photography and choreography, authentic recreation of the period, a bittersweet romantic sub-plot, and superbly-staged portrayals of gangster violence. The way the lighting attributed to Its grim, dark passages and bright exterior scenes were all part of the beautiful making of a great film.

France Ford Coppola took gangster movies to another level , according to the research that was spoken about prior to the film playing. The construction of the film and the darkening of pertaining parts yet setting light on the fact that the family is a good family who wants justice was well put out. A different kind of family , and the story being told from within the family rather then those who oppose what they do shed light on why they do what they do and gives another perspective. The film I believe was directed in the right time frame when gangster movies was well know , but rather this film took it to another level and revitalizing the meaning of Mafia and true gangsters. The fighting, the on screen killings and the climax when The Godfather got shot was set intensity. By prolonging The Godfather's life and developing his Son Micheal into the new Godfather was like passing the torch , thus not completely killing the "The Godfather" after his natural death.
